Just the River and Me
Just the River and Me
By Barbara Ann Rogers
Somehow you came to me in the form of a dream.
Showing me with a gentle touch of a wave,
that what life has to offer,
is so simple and yours for the taking.
You just need to see the sign and feel it’s inner thoughts,
to understand the wonder that lies in this canyon.
I too, am now a part of this wonderful river forever,
having touched it with all my body and soul.
I am now forever touched with the power of the flowing green river.
I laid in its arms while it wrapped its waves of water around my body.
It held me for a while until it playfully pushed me to the surface,
having to let me go, knowing I would not survive in it's deep depth.
Caressing me in the only way it knew how,
and yet in that split moment, I knew it would not hurt me.
It only wanted to be close to me, letting me know that somehow I had touched it in some small way, too.
We are both forever blessed for having that moment in time
when it was just the river and me.
