Going to the Sun bike ride, Glacier National Park: It wasn't suppose to happen. Roads were closed, we were too early, the season wouldn't start fo another week or so after we were to leave. No shuttles, no private car tour, no way am I going to grab magnificants vistas with my eyes and camera. We would not see the famous Going To The Sun road that rose up over 5000 ft and that would give us incredible views of the park.
What's that? You mean becuase they are woking on the road and cars were not allowed, we could actually drive to Avalanche Lake at the base of the road, unload the bikes and then when they finish with the day's working on the road we could ride our bikes up it. Pat and I were all in. Barbara drove the RV back to the lodge. Pat and I rode 12 miles up a consant 4% grade, huffing and puffing, gasping at the incredible views. It was a struggle for a bunch of us that human peddled up the long steep road. Yeah, and then there were those who rode e-bikes rolling effortly past us uphill as we struggled with the ascent. Lazy bastards.
