Crystal Forrest, Petrified Forrest National Park, Arizona: Once we got in the park, it was a long drive to get to the first major grove of petrified forest with lots of distractions, but it was worth it. It's one of those wonders of the world. We hiked around the 3/4 mile loop at Crystal Forest looking at these amazing remnants from a time long ago. There were bigger specimans further on but we were on the third day of what ended up being 20 hours of driving and with what we saw we satified my orginal quest. It was a great stop.
