The Road to Salinas, California: It was a 3 hour drive from Yosemite as we drove through Mariposa (should of spent a night there), Merced, Los Banos, circumventing the San Luis Resevoir and landing in Salinas. The Pacific Ocean would have to wait a couple of days. It was close, I could smell the salt air. But, it was Memorial Day weekend and everthing was booked. I had prebooked a site for Friday and Saturday night at the Salinias KOA. Sunday was still TBD. So we settled for probably the worst KOA we've ever stayed at for a couple nights. Bascially a parking lot by the 101 hwy with the worst wifi you could imagine. It took me a day to get over it, ranting and raving. Oh well, I did need a couple of days with no photo taking, resting the muscles from 4 days of intense (for me) activities in Yosemite.
As is our typical modus operandi, when the weather is not cooperating, we spent one afternoon at the movies. Mad Max: Fury Road was awesome and so appropriate. As I watched the flick I couldn't help but envision us riding through Tornado Alley chased by a band of crazy wackos in souped up and distorted muscle cars.
