The town of Manzanita, OR: After a long 8 mile bike ride I ask the princess if she wanted to ride the bikes another two miles into the town of Manzanita for lunch at a seafood cafe where should could get her much desired scallops. I offered to drive us in the RV but she said she would drive the treahed road through the bordering neighborhoods. It actually was less than two miles but we made it to Big Wave Cafe which I dedicate to my childood surfing buddy, Big Wave Dave Miller. I said, we have to eat there, paying homage to Mr. Big Wave.
Across the street there was another retailer and I ask BA to take a photo of me but for some reason she couldn't focus on me. We rode our bikes down main street and peaked in all the shops. This was a cool little town NOT on the 101. I checked wikipedia. Something line 800 population, median age, Sixty. I couldn't believe it. April, owner of Toylandia said it was true but only 25% of the homes were locals, the rest vacation rentals. Wow, even more interesting. We checked real estate prices and the homes along the cliffs ranged between 800 thousand-1.9 m. Homes not on the shore or with a view, went for under 200. Median was $350
We're taking notes.
