Sunset Bay State Park Cliffs, Coos Bay, OR: It's quite obvious, I think you'll agree, the Oregon coast is all about picturesque cliffs, rocks islands, waves, black sand beaches and a few lighthouses. So far there's a uniqueness to each stop on our northern Pacific roll in this state. At Sunset Bay State Park the shoreline was getting pounded by massive, thick walls of Pacific Ocean creating explosions of white spray. While it's true I grew up in the surf of the islands, as I rode my bike along the park's 4 mile coastal trail I was extremely impressed with the intensity of the ocean as it battered the outcroppings guarding the shore. I've watched a lot of waves pound Laie Puka Rock, folks, this was something else. From what I understand, the islands are getting hit with big surf from the hurricanes. I feel like I'm getting the other end of that storm wave here in Oregon. I literally stood and watched for long moments, mesmerized. I have a short 1 minute video that captures a little of the action in the next album.
